In Year Five the children continue to build on their football, hockey, cricket, basketball, tennis and netball skills. In addition to their ball skills, the children learn how to play badminton. The children play team games to a higher standard, with a greater understanding of striking and fielding. learn The children’s athletic skills continue to develop in Year Five. They learn how to use a range of equipment safely on the track and field.
In gymnastics the children learn how to make different shapes with their body in greater depth. They work alongside a partner to produce symmetrical sequences which they later transfer onto the apparatus. They also learn how to make asymmetrical shapes with their body. The children’s dance skills develop in Year Five. They learn how to move appropriately to Bollywood music.
