Computing prepares children for using technology in our rapidly changing world. Our aim is to equip children with the skills and knowledge to not only cope with, but to excel in using technology in everyday life. Children have access to “state of the art technology” and use computing tools to find, explore, analysis and present information in a variety of formats. The curriculum is split into six areas:
We have a good pupil/computer ratio, with PC’s located in learning bays, our air-conditioned computer suites and our learning resource centre. We have worked hard to provide children the best resources available, such as class sets of cameras for animation, NXT lego sets for control and robotics and logging equipment to monitor the environment around them. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards, which are used to enhance learning and make lessons as exciting and engaging as possible. Pupils are taught skills based lessons on a weekly basis and apply this knowledge across the curriculum in other subjects. We see computing as an integral part of teaching and learning and there are many areas we are constantly developing to help children achieve well in this subject.
