All schools in England have a Governing Body which is responsible for overseeing many of the strategic decisions of the school: to support, to challenge, to ask questions, ultimately to represent the school community.

Membership of the Governing Body includes parents, teaching staff and representatives from the local community and the Local Authority.

The school’s governing body is elected every four years.  The present members are listed below.  Our school governors take a very active role in providing the very best education for the children in our community. To view the Brooklands Code for Governors click here.

  • Mr Timothy Cuthbert - Acting Chair of Governors & Safeguarding Governor

I have one child in school at Brooklands, and another who will join in 2018, so I have a long term interest in the sustainable prosperity and development of Brooklands. I have over 14 years experience in the Police, most recently as a supervisor, and I am keen to support and challenge the Senior Leadership Team at Brooklands to continually improve, and provide a school that Long Eaton can be proud of, and one that parents, children & staff are excited to be a part of.
  • Miss Kirsten O’Neill

I am currently the Headteacher of Brooklands Primary School.
  • Mr Jake Bingham

Since graduating with a PGCE in Primary Education (5-11) from Sheffield Hallam University in 2016, I have been employed at Brooklands Primary School - starting in Year Four and working within the last 2 and a half years in Year Six. As well as the responsibility of Class Teacher, I am also Director of Learning for Upper Key Stage Two. Working within the school's governing body as staff governor is a very exciting, new challenge, enabling strong relationships to thrive between the leadership of both aspects of schools to produce the outcomes that all of our children deserve - something that I, along with every staff member at Brooklands, aspires to achieve.
  • Mrs Karen Moffatt

As a long serving member of staff, my role on the governing body enables me to have a wider influence on the school. Serving as a governor is fulfilling and rewarding.
  • Mrs Lynn Tanigawa

My name is Lynn, and I was elected a parent-governor in October 2016. I am not a governor at any other school and I do not have any financial or business links to the school which would compromise my position. I am, however, enjoying being able to give something back to the school! I have 3 children currently at Brooklands and I am very interested in the direction of the school, not only for my own children but also for future generations. I am delighted with the progress the school has made and look forward to seeing the school thrive. I have a background in accounting and would very much like to help the school with its finances, and to help make Brooklands a safe, rewarding and welcoming place for all - teachers and pupils! If you see me around school, please do not hesitate to say hello!
  • Mrs Heather Morrison - Acting Vice-Chair of Governors

I was elected as parent governor in October 2018. I have one child at Brooklands so I have a keen interest in the direction and future prospects of the school. I have over 15 years’ experience working within Human Resources (HR), and I am currently employed as a HR Business Partner at a local manufacturing organisation. I am keen to use my expertise to support and challenge the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the school can be the best it can be. I am not a governor at any other school and I do not have any financial or business links with the school which would compromise my position.
  • Mr Brendan Pearce-Brindley

"I was born in Derby and graduated from The University of Nottingham with my PGCE in 2002. I have been in the teaching profession for over a decade working in several different schools in the East Midlands area. My current role is as a Senior Assistant Head of Academy in an inner city secondary school in Derby. In my spare time I enjoy travelling and expanding my cultural horizons, as well as being a keen musician. I am passionate about increasing the life chances of our young people and it is with this aim in mind that I decided to be a governor at Brooklands Primary School. I am keen to support the school on its journey to be the very best it can be to ensure that the pupils thrive and reach their full potential."
  • Mr Martin Shipley

As Principal Auditor in a Local Government Partnership I have expertise in financial management, governance arrangements and knowledge of the required control environment(s) in order to drive real improvements across all areas of school life. I have undertaken reviews across a myriad of Public Sector bodies, including Schools and Academies, and are fully conversant with the requirements of the Schools Financial Value Standard, amongst other statutory and legislative requirements. I can further confirm that I have no financial or business interests in the School that could compromise this position and I am not a School Governor elsewhere.
